The Sun Hotel and The Brasserie

History records an inn on the site of The Sun in the 11th Century - when St. Mary's Church and Devil's Bridge were being built. Here in 1649 stayed Lady Anne Clifford, the formidable lady who owned much property in the Northern Counties. Much later in 1818 stayed the artist Turner, when he painted the famous view from the churchyard.
